A series of collages based on the regional newspaper Ostseezeitung. Each collage uses the daily edition of the newspaper as material. No other materials were added. All works were executed on the day of the newspaper’s appearance.

Bio
Hendrike Bake lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She is currently enrolled in a Master’s program at the Caspar-David-Friedrich-Institut, Greifswald. Bake works primarily in collage and print, using everyday materials to create images that seem quite but not entirely ordinary. On closer inspection the small works reveal strange perspectives, alien elements and jarring combinations. In a number of works, Bake has applied ouxpotic principles to her creative process. In “Odd One Out” for example she has turned eleven reproductions of ornaments (from the book “Historic Ornaments: A Pictorial Archive” by C. B. Griesbach) into visual puzzles: spectators are asked to spot small alterations in the regular pattern of each ornament.
